Mra. J. H. Smidt died at her home in the north part of the city on Monday afternoon after a brief illness.

Deceased was 73 years of age, and a native of Holland. The Smidt family moved to Orange City some three years ago from the farm near Boyden and while here have made many friends who deeply regret Mrs. Smidt's death.

She leaves an aged husband and several grown children to mourn her death. The funeral was held this afternoon, conducted by the Rev. H. W.
Stapelkamp. pastor of the First Reformed church, to which denomination deceased was a devoted member.

(Geesje Smidt was botn 28 Mar 1831 Rolde Netherlands and died 6 Jun 1904 Her husband John H. Smidt was botn 27 march 1838 Diever Neth. and died 13 Feb 1909. Geesje was the second wife of Johannes, They were married 27 March 1838 at Diever, Drenthe, Netherlands.She was the daughter of Jan Thijs and Geertje Beijering. His first wife was Geertruida Pot. Johannes and Geesje had at least two children. Margje 1869, and Sieme 1872. There were two step children of Geesje, Jan 1866 and Aaltje 1862.)
