Hull News - Hull Man Dies On Fishing Trip

Mr. John Vande Stouwe died of a heart attack early Tuesday morning at Silver Lake. Funeral services were held Friday at 1 o'clock from the home and 1-.30 p.m. from the American Ref. Church conductedby his pastor, Rev. John Bovenkerk, a mixed quartet sang two numbers "Safe in the Arms of Jesus", and "Nearer My God to Thee". They were Mrs. Harold Bush, Miss Esther Gunnink, Mr. John De Jong and Mr. Frank Gunnink.

Mr. John Vande Stouwe was 55 years old. He leaves to mourn his departure. His wife Sarah, one son Gerrit; two grandchildren, one sister Mrs. Ben Vande Berg of Sioux Center, three brothers. Henry of Whiting, Iowa, Alfred of Hull and Gerrit of Canton, SD.

Neighbors were pallbearers. Interment was made in the Hull cemetery.

With Mr. Vande Stouwe at the time of his death was his son Gerrit. The father was fishing from a chair. The son looked over and saw his father slumped over the fishing reel and thought first that his live was caught. He called to him but received no answer and going over found his father dead. Gerrit called the funeral director at Lake Park who in turn notified the coroner at Spirit Lake.
