Funeral services were held Monday, December 18, in the First Reformed Church of Rock Valley for Richard Dykstra, 84, of Rock Valley with Rev. Henry Poppen officiating.

He passed away at Sioux Center hospital Thursday, December 14, after a long illness.

He was born November 14, 1877, in the Netherlands and came to this country at the age of eight. He spent his boyhood in Wisconsin and at 18 years of age moved to Iowa with his parents. He retired seven years ago but remained on the farm.

Mrs.Dykstra Alberdena nee Van Putten and six of his children preceded him in death.

Survivors include two sons, William and John U., both of Rock Valley, Jessie (Mrs. Clarence Mulder) of Rock Valley and Joan (Mrs. William Kooiker) of Orange City; 20 grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Frank Welch of Glide, Ore.

Burial was at the Valley View cemetery with Vander Ploeg Funeral service in charge of arrangements.
