Anna Dykstra,91, Hull, died Friday July 16, at Pleasant Acres Care Center in Hull. Services were Monday, July 19, at Oolman Funeral Home in Hull, with the Rev. Carl Klompien officiating. Burial was at Hope Cemetery in Hull.
Anna Dykstra, daughter of John and Mary (Devries) TenHarmel, was born Sept. 19, 1912, near Lebanon. Her family moved to Hull, where she attended the Christian grammar school.
She married Richard W. Dykstra on her birthday in 1934 in Hull. They made their home in Hull, where she was a homemaker. They moved to the Homestead in Hull, becoming its first inhabitant. They transferred to Pleasant Acres Care Center on June 1, 2001, where Mr. Dykstra died after only 19 days. She continued to live at Pleasant Acres, where she played organ and piano duets as long as she was able. There she became known as the Puzzle Lady, because many people saw her in “her” corner fixing jigsaw puzzles. She was a member of First Christian Reformed Church in Hull for most of her life. She enjoyed gardening, canning, sewing and fancy work, especially quilting and crocheting. She also loved music and played her organ often. She and her husband liked to travel and did a lot of camping and fishing.
Survivors include a son Wesley and Diana (Obbink) Dykstra of Hull ; two granddaughters, Patricia and Curt Rozeboom of Indianapolis, and Jennifier and Tony Boesch of Sioux Falls, SD; and two great granddaughters .
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard W. Dykstra; a sister, Jennie (Pete) Soodsma; a sister-in-law Della (Fred) Krommendyk; and a brother-in-law Edward (Trina) Dykstra
