Peter Vander Zwaag Rites Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon in the First Ref. Church for Peter Vander Zwaag, who died Tuesday in the local hospital. Mr. Vander Zwaag was born Jan. 16, 1881, at South Holland, IL., and came at the age of 3 with his parents to Middleburg, He married Kate Mantle, Feb, 21, 1908 and continued living at Middleburg and later on at Newkirk, where he also farmed, Mr. and Mrs. Vander Zwaag retired to Orange City about 20 years ago.

Surviving are the widow, 3 sons a d 2 daughters: Jake of Orange City; Clara (Mrs. Gt. Doornink) of Sioux Center; Henry of Hospers; Elizabeth (Mrs. Wm. G. Kosters) of Orange City; and Bernard of Sheldon. There are 13 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Ben and Jake Vander Zwaag of Orange City and one sister Mrs. Gertie Dykstra of Sheldon. Three brothers and one sister preceded in death. Dr. Raymond Van Heukelom and Dr. Henry Colenbrander officiated at t h e funeral services.

The grandsons were the pallbearers: Peter Leo Vander Zwaag, Peter Dean Vander Zwaag, Gary Vander Zwaag, Marion Vander Zwaag, Gerald Vander Zwaag and Kenneth Doornink. Interment was made in the local cemetery.
