Bernard Meendering

Bernard "Bernie" Meendering, 81, of Martinsdale, formerly of Hull, died Saturday, March 30, at the Sioux Center Community Hospital. Funeral service was Tuesday, April 2, at 1:30 p.m. at the Oolman Funeral Home in Hull with Pastor Kenneth Fields and Pastor Eldor Wilkens officiating. Burial was at Hope Cemetery in Hull.

Meendering was born June 15, 1920, at Hull, the son of Albert and Hanna (Te Slaa) Meendering. He was raised at Hull. He married Henrietta Vander Vliet at Hull on January 29, 1941. They made their home at Hull, where they first farmed for a few years. He then was employed by Olivier Construction in Sioux Center, Plasier Plumbing in Hull, B & L Plumbing in Hull, Sioux Preme Egg in Sioux Center and Oldenkamp Manufacturing
in Hull. He retired in 1985. They moved to Martinsdale in October 1997.

He came to know Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior on February 6, 1946. He was a member of First Baptist Church at Norwalk and a former member of First Baptist
Church in Sioux Center.

Survivors include his wife; three children and their spouses, Berdena and Kenneth Auman of Hickman, Nebraska, Edwin and Dolores Meendering of Martinsdale and Juanita and Allen Fincham of Des Moines; a daughter in- law and her husband, Henderene and Ron Schuttloffel of Rock Valley; 13 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two brothers and their wives, John and Margaret Meendering of Hull and George and Ruth Meendering
of Sioux Center; and a sister, Gertrude Leusink of Orange City. He was preceded in death by a son, Robert Allen Meendering; and a granddaughter.
