Will Meendering was born Sept. 28, 1887 in Gronigen, the Netherlands. He came to this
country in 1910 with a sister. He was married Oct. 15, 1913 to Marie Vande Vegte. He farmed
in the Rock Valley area for 33 years and then retired and moved into Rock Valley. Eight
children were born to the union, seven of whom survive.One daughter, Wilma, died in 1940 at the age of 18, a runaway accident victim. Survivors include the widow, Marie; one son, John of Rock Valley and six daughters: Gertrude, Mrs. Simon Post. Doon: Anna, Mrs. William De Boer of Rock Valley; Jennie, Mrs. Peter Den Boer. Hudson; Henrietta, Mrs. Ed Uittenbogaard, Boyden; Marie, Mrs. Eugene Kruizenga, Janesville, Wis., and Nina, Mrs. Ted Feekes of Rock Valley; three brothers, John and Bert of Boyden and Pete of Uuderwood; 6 sisters, Anna, Mrs. Teunis Hooyer of Sioux Center; Sophie, Mrs. Charles Kempema of Hull; Clazina, Mrs. John Luth of Modesto, Calif, and three sisters still in the Netherlands. There are also 30 grandchildren.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Funeral services for Will Meendering 72, who died at his home Monday, will be 1 p.m. Saturday at the Vander Ploeg funeral home and 1:30 p.m. at the First Reformed church. Rev H. C. Van Deelen will officiate and burial will be in Valley View cemetery.
Mr. Meendering was born Sept. 28, 1887, in Groningen, Holland and came to America at the age of 23 years. He then resided near Sioux Center. He married Marie Van De Vegte in 1913. Mr. Meendering farmed in the Rock Valley area for 33 years and moved to Rock Valley in 1950.
Survivors include the widower; eight children; Gertrude,(Mrs. Simon Post) of Doon, Anna (Mrs. William De Boer) of Rock Valley. Jennie (Mrs. Peter Den Boer) of Hudson, S. D., Henrietta (Mrs. Ed Uittenbogard) of Boyden, John of Rock Valley, Marie (Mrs. Eugene Kruizenga) of Janesville, Wis. and Nena (Mrs. Ted Feekes) of Sioux Center; 30 grandchildren, three brothers and six sisters. One daughter, Willemina, died at the age of 18.
