Norma Osinga

Norma Osinga, 60, of Sioux Center, died Monday, January 4, at the Sioux Center hospital after a long Illness. A prayer service was at Vander Ploeg Chapel In Sioux Center on Thursday. Graveside services were at Lebanon Cemetery In rural Sioux Center and a memorial service was at First Christian Reformed Church In Sioux Center, the Rev. Mark Vander Hart officiating; both services were on Thursday.

Osinga was born June 15, 1932, in Lakota, the daughter of T. Ray and Mary (Psander) Estle. She attended school In Ledyard and Elmore, Minnesota. She graduated from Waldorf College in Forest City. She married Gottlieb Rieffer in 1948. He died In 1978. She worked with the children's food and nutrition program through Kossuth County Extension Office and did extensive volunteer work with school, Girl Scouts and church.

On June 20, 1981, she married Siebren Osinga at Lakota. They lived in Hull and later moved to Sioux Center. She was a member of First Christian Reformed Church and was active in the Ruth Circle and the pastoral visitors' program. Survivors Include her husband; children, Leslie Thompson, Kay Kuhl, Ann Hamilton, Kelly Rieffer and Timothy Rieffer; two step-daughters, Margie and Maria Osinga; nine grandchildren; a brother, Leroy Estle; and
seven sisters, Mabel Mitchell, Pearl Smith, Edna Winter. Ruth Hartshorn, Jeanne McCoy. Velda Lageman and Doris Klelndl. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers; and two granddaughters, Sabrina and Cerlssa Thompson.
