Gerrit Riphagen, 80, of Maurice died in a Sioux City hospital Monday after a short illness.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Maurice Reformed Church. The Rev. E.R. Voogd will officiate and burial will be in the Sherman Township Cemetery under the direction of the Van Gelder Funeral Home of Orange City. Visitation will be from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Mr. Riphagen was born Sept. 23, 1900, in The Netherlands. He came to this country as a child and married Henrietta Van Marel in 1922. She died later. He married Henrietta Vander Brock Sept. 1, 1949, at Nashua, Iowa. He had resided in Maurice for the last 36 years after moving here from Orange City. He worked in the elevator at Maurice before retiring. He was a member of
the Maurice Reformed Church. Survivors include the widow; two sons, Vernon of Chino, Calif., and Merlin of Artesia, Calif.; four daughters, Mrs. Clarence (Beulah) Harms of Hawarden; Mrs. Paul (Sharla) De Jager of Maurice; Mrs. David (Arloa) Vande Brake of Sacramento, Calif., and Mrs. Robert (Fay) Masters of San Mateo, Calif.; 17 grandchildren; nine greatgrandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Henry (Johanna) Kamerman of Sioux Center, and a brother, William, of Hull.
He was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Ory Riphagen, a brother and a sister.
