Clarence DeVos, 76, of Hull died Monday in a hospital in Rock Valley. Services were at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the First Reformed Church in Hull. The Rev. Gerald Vander Velde officiated. Burial was in the Hope Cemetery. Visitation was from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the Kraai-Oolman Funeral Home at Hull.
Mr. DeVos was born Feb. 12, 1907, in Goudsward, The Netherlands, and came to the United States as a teen-ager. He married Johanna Kleen Dec. 30, 1930, rural Hull. They farmed southwest of Sioux Center until 1943 when they moved to a farm north of Hull. In 1963, they moved into Hull where he was employed by the Van Engen Meat Market. Since 1978 he had been a part-time custodian at the Boyden-Hull Community School.
Mr, DeVos was a member of the First Reformed Church and the Senior Citizens Group.Survivors include his wife; one son, Cornieof Jenison, Mich,; four daughters, Mrs. Ted (Elizabeth) Brunsting, Mrs. Joe (Nelvina) Bomgaars Jr. and Mrs. John S. (Clarice) Kooima, all of Hull and Mrs. Andrew (Wilmina) Oostra of Rock Valley; three brothers, William C. and Cornie, both of Sioux Center and Tunis of Hudsonville, Mich.; two sisters, Mrs. Henry (Lena) Keunan of Orange City and Mrs. Lewis (Anna) Wynia of Rock Rapids; 20 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
