Hawarden Independent, March 7, 1934

Geo. E. Bonner, for many years one of the best known railway men on the North Western system, died at his home at Clar Lake, Iowa, Sunday following a stroke. Mr. Bonner had been in failing health for a number of years and two or three years ago was pensioned by the North Western Company.

Mr. Bonner entered the employ of the Northern Iowa division of the North Western when a young man as a freight brakeman. After years of service as a brakeman and conductor he was promoted to the position of trainmaster and later became superintendent of the Northern Iowa division which position he held for many years. A few years ago, when the division headquarters were moved from Eagle Grove to Mason City, he moved to the latter place where he remained until his retirement when he returned to Eagle Grove. About a year ago he moved to Clar Lake where he has since resided. Funeral services were held at Eagle Grove Wednesday and interment was made at Jewell, Iowa.

George Bonner enjoyed wide popularity with the general public as well as with the railroad men and his host of loyal friends in Hawarden learned of his death with sincere regret.

NOTE: This could be Clear Lake, Iowa rather than Clar Lake as typed in the obit.
