Patricia Louise Grond, 73, ofSioux Center died Sunday, February 3, at the Sioux Center Community Hospital. Memorial services were Thursday, February 7, at 10:30 a.m. at First Reformed Church in Sioux Center with the Rev. Roger Voskuil officiating. Interment was at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Sioux Center.

Mrs. Grond was born March 31, 1928, in Dayton, Ohio, the daughter of James Emmet and Dessie (Tomlinson) Holden. The family lived in Danville, Illinois; St. Cloud, Minnesota; and finally lafayette, Indiana, where she graduated from Jefferson High School in 1946. She attended Purdue University, where she was very active in extracurricular activities and graduated with a bachelor of science degree in 1950.

After graduation she was an accountant with General Telephone Co. of Indiana. She then began her teaching career at the South Side Mount Morency School District. She married Frederick Grond in Lafayette on August 26, 1956. After teaching at Eaton School in Muncie, Indiana, she retired early to raise their children.

They lived in several communities until 1970, when they settled in Sioux Center. He died June 3, 1993, in Sioux Center. "Pat" was a very active person throughout her life, belonging to many organizations including the Business and Professional Women of LaPorte City and the foundation board of the Sioux Center Community Hospital as well as the hospital's auxiliary, of which she was a past vice president and treasurer. She had been a leader of both Boy Scouts and Brownies. She helped with the remedial reading program in the Sioux Center Schools and volunteered in- the school and church libraries, the blood bank and the hospital.

She was a member of First Reformed Church, Lydia Circle, and taught catechism and Sunday school classes for many years. She enjoyed drawing, crossword puzzles, reading, participating in Bible studies and attending her children's and grandchildren's events.

Survivors include her five children and their spouses, Nealyn Sue and Jerry Noteboom of Carmel, James Frederick and. Barbara Grond of Greenwicn CN,
David Patrick and Brenda Grond of Macomb, Illinois, Lisa Jane and Darren Rensink of Sioux Center and Steven Douglas and Greta Grond of Brandon, South Dakota; 11 grandchildren; a sister and her husband, Peggy Ann and Joseph
Lueken of Lafayette; and nieces and nephews.
