Mrs. J. Franken died July 27, at Grand Rapids. Mich. Funeral services will be held here, 1:30 at the home, of A. Van Kley and at 2:00 o'clock- in the Central Ref.Church. Mrs. J. Franken is Mrs. Van Kley's mother. Seven children survive.

Mrs. J. Franken 1856-1934Born at Appeldoorn Neth. 1856. Migrated to this country at age 14 years. With parents settled on a farm 3 miles southeast of Sioux Center where her husband homesteaded. Nine children born of this union, 5 sons and 4 daughters. Her husband died Jan 1, 1911 and her daughter Mrs. Ella Mulder precede her in death Feb 25, 1912.
The surviving children are Edward and Joe of San Diego CA, Albert of Battle Creek MI, Arthur and James of Grand Rapids MI, Mrs. A. F. Van Kley of Sioux Center, and Mrs. A. Broene and Mrs. Edward Vander Kamp also of Grand Rapids. Mrs. Broene, Albert, Joe and Arthur attended the funeral.
(Cemetery index of Sioux Center cemetery lists her as mother Franken born 16 March 1856 died July 24, 1934. Also found her name to have been Jannetje ‘Jane’ Mulder as was evidence from her son Albert’s birth )
