Louis G. Franken
Louis G. Franken. 73, of Sioux Center died Thursday, April 18, at his residence after a brief illness. Services were at 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 22, at Carmel Reformed Church with the Rev. Virgil Dykstra of Allison, the former pastor, and the Rev. Elmer Vander Ploeg of Sioux Center officiating. Burial was in the Carmel Cemetery.

Franken was born October 16, 1917, in Middleburg. He spent his youth farming there and attended country school. He married Wilma B. Duistermars of Denver, Colorado, and formerly of Northwest Iowa, January 28. 1944, while stationed there in the Army during World War II. They were at Fort Benning, Georgia, and then farmed in the Rock Valley/Carmel area after his discharge. He worked for the Soo Lumber Company in Sioux Center for the last several years.

He was a member of Carmel Reformed Church for many years.

Survivors include his wife; six daughters, Judith Ann Franken of Sioux Center, Gretchen Kay Bernhardt of Sheldon, Mary Lynn Boeve of Boyden, Susan Beth Ten Napel of Ireton, Kathryn Jolene Altena of Rock Rapids and Laura Ruth Franken of Las Vegas, Nevada; two sons, Leon and Thomas, both of Sioux Center; six brothers. Everett G., Gerrit H.. Jr. and Arnold "Arnie," all of Sioux Center, Irwln of Denver, Howard of Luverne, Minnesota, and Dries of California;
three sisters, Grace Van Batavla of Luverne and Louise Oliver and Kathleen Altena, both of Sioux Center; 16 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Memorial donations may be made in his name to Hospice of Sioux
County.
