 Obituary: Hawarden, Iowa- Duane B. McAninch, 57, of rural Hawarden, died Sunday, January 13, 2013 at his residence from a short illness.
Memorial Service will begin at noon Saturday in the basement of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Hawarden with Rev. Todd Bunge officiating, with lunch to follow the service.
Duane Bradley McAninch was born December 29, 1955 in Bismarck, North Dakota, the son of Lyle and Louise (Zoeller) McAninch. He graduated from West Sioux High School in 1974 and attended carpenter training. Duane worked as a self-employed carpenter in the Hawarden area. He and his brother Dave restored the train caboose on Central Avenue and also built the cabins at Oak Grove Park. Duane married Nancy Vig on December 29, 2012.
Duane played softball in his younger years and loved nature, planting many trees and hosta plants at his farm. He enjoyed fishing and his grandchildren and loved his dogs.
Survivors include his wife Nancy Vig; a daughter, Annabel and her husband Jim McKee, Jr. and Dillon and Paige of Hawarden; two step daughters, Meranda and her husband Maurico Barron and children Maddie and Macy of Omaha, and Stephanie Klimeades and her children Aly and Nick also of Omaha; and his brother, Dave McAninch of Alcester, South Dakota.
Duane was preceded in death by his parents.
