Doris Oaks

Doris Oaks, 79, Alcester died Thursday (Nov. 11, 1982) at her home of an apparent heart attack.

Services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the United Church of Christ in Alcester. The Rev. Rodger Kube officiated. Burial was in Pleasant Hill cemetery in Alcester under direction of the Wass funeral home.

Mrs. Oaks, the former Doris Kelley, was born June 19, 1903 in Breckenridge, Mo. She lived in Breckenridge until age 18 when she moved to Hawarden. She married Fay Oaks Jan. 25, 1925 in Hamilton, Mo. After their marriage the couple moved to a farm near Wessington Springs, and lived there until 1926, when they moved to a farm near Akron. In 1941 they moved to Alcester.

Survivors include her husband; two sons, Donald of Scobey, Mont., and ElDean of Tea, S.D.; a daughter, Mrs. Allen (Barbara) Berg of Sioux Falls; a brother, Charles Kelley of Citrus Heights, Calif.; three sisters, Mrs. Stanley (Harriet) Swanson of Alcester, Mrs. William (Carrie) Bohlen of Akron and Mrs. Earl (Ethel) Dever of Schertz, Texas; 11 grandchildren and six greatgrandchildren.
