Daisy Den Herder
Daisy Den Herder, 89, of Sioux Center died Saturday, February 23, at the Sioux Center Community Nursing Facility. Memorial services were Tuesday at 11 a.m. at First Reformed Church with the Rev. Roger Voskuil officiating. Burial was in Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Mrs. Den Herder was born northwest of Sioux Center to William J. and Fannie (Jager) Heynen
on March 21, 1912. She attended country school and Sioux Center Christian School. She married John H. Den Herder at her parents' home on October 17, 1934. The couple farmed near Sioux Center and wereblessed with six children. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

She loved spending time with the youngsters in the family, liked preparing family meals and
was known for her delicious pies and baked goods. She was a 4-H leader and belonged to Homemakers. She loved to entertain friends and family and looked forward to coffee time at the mall with friends. The couple shared a love for Christian music and in their later years often attended area music programs and concerts at Dordt. Seven years ago, signs of Alzheimer's became apparent. Her husband cared for her at home, until she became a resident of Valley Manor and later the Sioux Center Community Nursing Facility. Each day he read scripture and prayed with her, even this past Saturday before she died peacefully
at the age of 89.

She was a member of First Reformed Church and participated in Priscilla Circle along with other church activities.

Survivors are her husband of 67 years; five children, Garold (Donna) Den Herder of Sioux Center, Wanda (Leroy) Intveld of Hull, Ron (Janet) Den Herder, Dale (Karen) Den Herder and Donna (Dennis) Walstra, all of Sioux Center; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren;
two brothers, Henry Heynen and Tony (Hermina) Heynen, both of Sioux Center; a brother-in-law, Marion (Gert) Wiersma of Sioux Center; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a son, Leroy Jay Den Herder; two granddaughters; a brother, Hilbert Heynen; and two sisters, Grace Altena and Minnie Wiersma.

The family requests memorial donations be made to the New Nursing Home Alzheimer's Unit, c/o Sioux Center Community Hospital.
