Mrs. Ed Van Donge, Sr., 86, of Ireton, died Wednesday, December 23 in a hospital at Orange City.

Private services were at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the Dow Funeral Home at Ireton. The Rev. Robert Schwander officiated. Burial was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. There was a public prayer service at 8 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.

Mrs. Van Donge, the former Gertrude Schutt, was born Jan. 14, 1895, in Sioux Center. She married Ed Van Donge Sr. Oct. 29, 1921, at Sioux Center, and the couple made their home in the Ireton area.

Survivors include her husband; two sons, Edward and Jarold, both of Ireton; five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Bert (Hattie) Van Voorst of Ireton.
