Larry Den Hartog
Larry F. Den Hartog, 48, of Orange City passed away Sunday, Sept. 8 in Phoenix, Ariz. Larry Freeman Den Hartog was born. May 29, 1937, at Orange City, the son of Henry J. Den Hartog and Gertrude Timmer Den Hartog. On June 2, 1962 he married Harriet Marie Mousel at Alton. They made their home in Orange City where Larry was employed at the Auto Service Garage for several years. He then served as parts manager at Punt Chevrolet-Pontiac-Cadillac for 15 years. He later worked for the Farmers Co-op Oil Association and most recently was a dispatcher for the Sioux County Communications Center. Also, from 1970-1980 he and his wife operated Orange City Cleaners.
Mr. Den Hartog was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of Alton. He was a former member of the Orange City Jaycees, which he had served as president for three years. Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Debra, Jill and Kelli, all of Orange City; and four brothers and sisters, Clarence of Orange City, Mrs. Robert (Jackie) Minten of Alton, G. James of Selma, Ind., and Mrs. Robert (Henrietta) Grooters of Alton. Larry was preceded in death by a sister, Josina Vander Stoep. Funeral services were held Wednesday, Sept. 11 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Alton with the Rev. Fr. David Hogan officiating. Interment followed at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, under the direction of the Van Etten-Oolman Funeral Home of Orange City.
