Mrs. Marjorie Roghair, age 101, of Orange City, passed away on Friday, August 31, 2012, at the Orange City Area Health System Long Term Care Facility.
There will be a memorial service on Saturday, September 22, 2012, at 11:00am, at the Park Church in Long Beach, California. Interment will be at the Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Cypress, California.. Arrangements are with the Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City.
Marjorie Kathryn born on November 2, 1910, in rural Alton, the daughter of Sip and Kathryn (Popma) Sipma. She was raised on the family farm near Newkirk, where she attended the Holland Township country school and the Newkirk High School.
On November 14, 1936, she married William N. Roghair at Luverne, Minnesota. They were blessed with five children, Roger, Paul, Larry, David and Patricia. They made their home in Orange City until 1957, when they moved to Lakewood, California. Later, they moved to Bethel Manor in Bellflower, California. "Bill" passed away on December 18, 1990, in Long Beach, California, after more than 54 years of marriage.
In December of 2008, she because a resident of the Artesia Christian Home. She moved back to Iowa in January of 2009, to reside in the Long Term Care Facility.
Marjorie was a homemaker, an Avon sales women, a day care provider, and she did housekeeping for others in their homes or yachts.
She was a part of the birth and development of the Eldorado Park Community Church, where she was a member and taught Sunday school classes. Since returning to Orange City, First Reformed Church has been her church home. She also held Good News Club for her neighborhood for many years and was later active in the Salvation Army Ladies Home League.
Mrs. Roghair had a loving relationship with her church family, neighbors, and those for whom she worked, as well as those who served her.
Those left to cherish her memory include her four sons and their wives, Roger and Margaret Roghair, of Orange City; Paul and Sharon Roghair, of Lakewood, California; Larry and Gail Roghair, of Mission Viejo, California; and David and Peggy Roghair, of Henderson, Nevada; a son-in-law, Rodney Green, of Redmond, Oregon; her sixteen grandchildren, thirty-one great-grandchildren, eight great-great-grandchildren, and a sister and her husband, Carol and Harvey Vander Pol, of Orange City.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Patricia (11-27-84), at age 35, a brother, Bill Sipma (3-8-1972), a great-grandson, Blair David Pfaff(3-13-92), and a great-granddaughter, Jaclyn Pfaff (2-24-1993).
