MRS. HENRY HESS
Mrs. Henry (Johanna) Hess, 94, of Hospers, died Tuesday, March 30 in a hospital in Sheldon.
Services were at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Hospers. The Rev. Richard Ries officiated. Burial was in St. Anthony's Cemetery under direction of the Vander Ploeg Funeral Home of Hospers. The rosary was recited at 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. Friday in the church.
Mrs, Hess, the former Johanna Van Mispelaar, was born Dec 22, 1887, in Hospers. She married Henry Hess June 4, 1912 at Hospers. They lived at Hospers until 1941 when they moved to Beresford, S.D.
They moved to California in 1947. Mr. Hess died March 4, 1970. In 1980 she entered the nursing home in Sheldon.
Survivors incjude one daughter, Mrs. R.J. (Alida) Walgenbach of Hospers; two sons, Henry of Tucson, Ariz., and Gildard of Smith River, Calif.; three sisters, Mrs. Margaret Robinson of Daytona Beach, Fla,, Mrs. Kosy Krier of Bridgewater, S.D., and Mrs. Burnetta Gacke of Sioux Falls, S.D.; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
