It is not often that the people of Ireton receive a shock like they did Monday morning when the news went from place to place that Mrs. Stephen Lemonds had died in the Hawarden hospital the night before [May 19]. It was like lightening from a clear sky and the people were dazed by it. It was certainly a sad occasion for the husband and little children, for her father, G. A. Rogers who has been so very poorly, and has hardly recovered from the severe shock which came so suddenly in the death of his son Walter. Mrs. Lemonds was taken to the Hawarden hospital Sunday evening about six o'clock and an operation was performed, to bring a baby into the world, a little son. But the shock and condition of the mother was such that she only survived the operation a few hours and the same evening death claimed her. We can hardly find words to express the feeling of her many friends, especially for the husband and three small children. We express our heartfelt sympathies to all those near and dear, and may the best of love and [two illegible words] the grace so necessary in their trial. Hers was a sweet life for devotion to her dear ones and she will be missed by her many friends for her sunny disposition and cheerful ways were everywhere a welcome guest. So we can only say farewell but not good bye, for we have the assurance that a life like hers is not ended by death but that glorious reunion awaits those who prove faithful.

Ethel Mae Rogers, youngest child of Mr. and Mrs. G. A. Rogers, was born at Ireton Aug. 30, 1888. Practically her entire life has been spent in the vicinity of Ireton. June 23, 1907, she was baptized and received into membership of the First Presbyterian church and for many years was a faithful member of the choir. In the Missionary society her presence will be keenly missed. She finished the course offered in the Ireton public schools and spent one year at Buena Vista college, taking both sound and instrumental music. On Oct. 8, 1912, she was united in marriage with Mr. Stephen Lemonds who with two little daughters, Mayme and Sarah, and infant son, are left to mourn the departure of a devoted wife and mother. Besides she leaves her father, one sister, Mrs. Bertha Bahr of Ireton, and three brothers, Bert of Ireton, George of Estherville and Everett of Midvale, Idaho, with a host of relatives and friends who feel the loss to earth and the sorrow of earth's parting with this dear one.
