Obituary: Bertha Hooyer, 95, of Sioux Center, Iowa, died Wednesday, August 29, 2012 at Pleasant Acres Care Center in Hull, Iowa. Funeral service will be Saturday, September 1, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Carmel Reformed Church in Carmel, Iowa with Rev. Mark Heijerman officiating. Burial will follow at Carmel Cemetery.

Bertha Hooyer was born on October 10, 1916 in Perkins, Iowa. She was the daughter of Egbert and Janna (De Graff) Hooyer. She graduated from the eighth grade country school. She worked on the family farm and wallpapered for many area families. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting and playing card and board games. Bertha will always be remembered for her caring and giving spirit.

Bertha is survived by her two sisters, Hattie Hooyer and Marie Vande Kamp; one nephew, John Vande Kamp; one niece, Marietta (Duane) De Kruyff and one grandnephew, Cody De Kruyff. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother-in-law, Walter Vande Kamp.
