Laura J. Lehrman, 97, of Hudson, S.D., formerly of Hawarden, died Saturday, Dec. 11 ,1999, at the Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Hudson.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, Dec. 15 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Ireton. Rev. Loren Vogler officiated. Burial was at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, rural Ireton, under the direction of the Porter Funeral Home in Ireton.
Laura Jeanette was torn July 13,1902, near Ireton, the daughter of Hajo and Margaret (Ricklefs) Onken. She graduated from Ireton High School in 1922.
Laura married Harold F. Lehrman on July 3,1930, in Sioux City. They farmed near Maurice and moved into Maurice in 1970.
They moved to Hawarden in May of 1983. Mr. Lehrman died Dec. 30, 1983. She moved to the Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Hudson in 1992.
Mrs. Lehrman was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Ireton. She enjoyed music and playing the piano.
Survivors include two daughters, Louise Cleveland of Long Beach, Calif, and Lornetta Dykstra and her husband John of Orange City; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, Herman in infancy, Gerd, Reiner and Andy; and six sisters, Mary Toenjes, Gesena Johnson, Emelie Schulz, Johanna Onken, Martha Schmidt and LouiseEarll.
