MARVIN LEHRMAN
MARVIN LEHRMAN, 67, formerly of Maurice, Iowa died Sunday, May 16, at the Good Samaritan Center in Hulstein, Iowa. Funeral service was held Tuesday, May18, at 2pm at St. John's Lutheran Church of rural Ireton with Rev. Dave Daumer officiating. Interment followed in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation was held Tuesday one hour prior to the service at St. John's Lutheran Church.
Arrangements were entrusted to the Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center, Iowa.
MARVIN M. LEHRMAN was born October 28, 1936 near Orange City to Lawrence and Cora (Rietema) Lehrman. Marvin grew up on the family farm southwest of Orange City. He attended a nearby country school and later Maurice Public School. As a young man Marvin farmed with his father and brothers. Marvin also did custom work
in the area with his brothers. On his own he migrated as custom labor with the wheat harvest through the Central United States. For a short time he worked as custom farm labor in Arizona.
For a period of six years, Marvin left the country working in various capacities with mission aspects in India, Africa and Ethiopia. Upon his return he lived with his brothers in Maurice. Later he made his home in Sioux Center and the Hope Haven RTC Home in Orange City. Most recently he was a resident of the Good Samaritan Cen Hulstein, Iowa.
Marvin was a member of St. John Lutheran Church of rural Ireton. He enjoyed attending Tractor Pulls, agricultural events and traveling.
Surviving are two sisters: Mary Lou De Vries of Gushing, IA and Madonna Harrington of Salix, Iowa along with four nieces and four nephews. Marvin was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers: Donald and Robert Lehrman.
