Wilma H. Jasper
June 18, 1921 - August 23, 2012
Wilma Hendrene Sprik Jasper, age 91, of Sioux Center, known by name to her Savior, entered into Glory on August 23, 2012, at the Sioux Center Community Hospital and Health Center.
There will be a memorial service on Monday, August 27, at 1:00pm, at the Bethel Christian Reformed Church in Sioux Center. The Rev. Don Draayer and the Rev. Gil Kamps will officiate. Interment will be prior to the service at the West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City.
She was born to Albert and Wieda (Jensma) Sprik in the Sprik farm home near Prairie View, Kansas, on June 18, 1921. Wilma was baptized and made Profession of Faith at the Luctor Christian Reformed Church near Prairie View. She attended country school and graduated from the Long Island, Kansas, High School.
In 1940, she moved to Orange City, where she met Marion Jasper. They were united in marriage on April 24, 1942, at the Sprik family home, prior to Marion’s deployment in World War II. They were blessed with four daughters: Judith, Joanne, Janice and Patricia Jane.
After living in Orange City for 61 years, in 2003, Marion and Wilma moved to Crown Pointe Independent Living in Sioux Center, where they enjoyed the community atmosphere and made many lasting friendships in the six years before Marion’s death in August of 2009. They and their family were thankful for their 67 years of Christian marriage.
Wilma was a member of Bethel Christian Reformed Church, where she enjoyed many Bible studies, as well as carried on a card ministry, being a great encourager of both family and friends. She was known for her "behind the scenes" acts of kindness and hospitality. Her faith and family were everything to her, and she learned how to use the computer for e-mail at the age of 82, just to be able to keep in touch with all those near and dear to her. The legacy she leaves is a family grateful for her quiet life of Christian humility and service, where we can say "she prayed and she served".
We grieve, but not as those without Hope. Those left to cherish her memory are her four daughters and their husbands: Judy and Dr. Richard Eppinga, of Grand Rapids, Michigan; Joanne and Rev. Don Draayer, of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada; Janice and Rev. Gilbert Kamps, of Maryland Heights, Missouri; and Pat and Neil Van Schouwen, of Sioux Center. There are also 25 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren: Tanya (Draayer), Syla, Avril, Kylie and Skylar Baccam; Donovan, CeAnn, Landon, Adalyn and Brodyn Draayer; Natalie (Draayer), David and Jonathan Akerele; Trisha (Draayer), Evan and Eliana Booy; Nick and Larissa Draayer; Charissa Kamps; Danielle (Kamps), Michael and Elizabeth Constant; Anastasha (Kamps), Eric, Reuben, Heidi and Briella Anderson; Barek and Laura Kamps; Matt, Karen, Tyler, Ryan, Kyra and Ayva Van Schouwen; Brad and Summer Van Schouwen; David and Mandy Van Schouwen; and Adam Van Schouwen, and his fiancé, Brandie Blosser.
She is also survived by one brother and three sisters: Stanley (Leona) Sprik, Anne Jansonius, Alvina (Cornie) Keunen and Hazel (Bernie) Nibbelink, as well as a sister-in-law, Harriet Sprik. Wilma was close to her extended Jasper family.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Goldie and husband Norman Winchell, a brother Henry Sprik, and a brother-in-law Dick Jansonius.
