MRS. LYDIA LEISTER PASSES AWAY IN DENTAL CHAIR
Death Came Suddenly Wednesday Afternoon After Having Several
Teeth Extracted
Mrs. Lydia Leister passed away very suddenly about 6 o'clock Wednesday afternoon from heart failure. On
the day before her death she had been advised by a physician that it was imperative that she have a number of her teeth extracted at once. Accordingly she went to the office of Dr. W. E. Balmat Wednesday afternoon and had seven of her teeth removed. She apparently stood the ordeal very well and the Doctor had finished the work and was just preparing to assist her from the dental chair when she remarked
that she feared she was going to faint. Dr. Balmat told her to lean
back in the chair while he secured some cold cloths but he quickly noted
her difficulty in breathing and hastily summoned Dr. J. C. Kelly from his
office which adjoins the dental office. An attempt was made to restore respiration and Dr. L. C. Gardner was summoned and although he responded immediately she had passed away before his arrival. Her sudden death in this manner is most regrettable but members of her family realize that it might have occurred at any time in the same manner and attach no blame whatever to anyone.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 o'clock Saturday afternoon at the Associated church and will be in charge of Rev. Wm. F. Vance. Interment will be made in the cemetery here.
Mrs. Lydia Leister was born Jan. 20, 1863, in Center county, Pa., so
would have been 61 years old next month. She came to Hawarden in
1910 and has since made her home here. For a number of years she has
resided with her daughter, Mrs. Matt Doctor and family. She visited with
her son, Guy Leister, at Nampa, Idaho, from December, 1922 to (not legible) Lists of children not legible.
Two sisters and two brothers Mrs. P. M . Stron of Hawarden, Mrs. J. H. Bridge of Miflinburg PA, David S. Lingle of Spring Mills PA and Lee Lingle of Belleville PA.Mrs, Leister was possessed of a most delightful personality, always
cheerful and always ready to respond to the call of friends in time of need.
She was a tireless worker but found constant joy in her tasks and was
never happier than when performing some act to ease the pathway of those about her. Her faith in her Savior was deep seated but the best exemplification of her Christianity was her daily life. She was a loyal member of the Women's Relief Corps and was ever faithful to every duty assigned to her. Her death is deeply mourned by many outside the family circle.
