Mrs. John Vande Berg Sr., nee Alice Nettinga, was born at LeMars, Iowa on September 8, 1888 to Mr. and Mrs. Cathrinus Nettinga. She resided in LeMars with her parents until 1902 when they moved to Hull, Iowa.
On August 22, 1910 she was united in marriage to John Vande Berg.
On April 19, 1924, Mrs. Vande Berg made confession of her faith in Jesus
Christ as Lord and Savior and along with Mr. Vande Berg became a charter member of the American Reformed Church. .She was a charter member of the former Ladies Mission and Aid Society and of the current Guild
for\ Christian Service. Although an invalid for many years, she maintained an active affiliation, and interest in the women’s work and in the total work of the church.
On Monday March 14, 1961 (1960) at the age of 71, she was called to her eternal home, after a brief stop in the Community Memorial Hospital of Sheldon IA.
Mrs. Vande Berg is survived by her husband John, three children, John Jr. of Sioux Center; Agnes (Mrs. Arie Koerselman) of Sheldon; and Kathleen (Mrs. Lester Van Muyden) of Hull. Four grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She is also survived by two brothers, Teunis of Edgerton Minnesota and Meindert of Hull and one sister Julia of Hull.
