A. Vande Griend - Andrew Vande Griend, 72, died
unexpectedly last Wednesday, September 26, at his farm home near Middleburg. Death was attributed to a heart attack. Mr. Vande Griend was a life-long resident of this vicinity.
Funeral services were held Saturday at the Free Grace Reformed church, Middleburg, under the direction of Rev. A. Baker.
Van Etten funeral home of Orange City was in charge of arrangements, with interment in the Middleburg cemetery.
John Wissink sang "Under His Wings" during the service. Pallbearers were Jacob P. Vander Zwaag, Gerrit Grevengoed, Pete Vande Griend, Jake H. Vande Griend. John De Haan and Le-Roy Mantel.
Mr. Vande Griend was born on the place four and one-half miles north of Orange City, the son of Jacob and Nell (Huisman)Vande Griend; He was born December 8, 1883. He was married January 23, 1908, at Middleburg, to Ella Mantel.
Survivors include a son and two daughters: Jake,(Nell) Mrs. Alfred Van Meeveren, and Mrs. Elizabeth Plender, Orange City.
Survivors also include six grandchildren
