Hattie Wolfswinkel, daughter of Henry and Johanna Wolfswinkel, was born at Carmel, Iowa
September 3, 1917. She lived her youth and attended school in the Carmel and Rock Valley area.
She was united in marriage to Ralph R. Vande Berg of Sioux Center, Iowa on July 6, 1939
at Rock Valley, Iowa. Their married life was lived on a farm near Sioux Center. They moved to Sioux Center on April 3, 1970. She passed away at St.Lukes East Hospital in Sioux City, Iowa on April 12, 1970 after a lengthly illness at the age of 52 years. 7 months and 9 days.
She is survived by her husband Ralph, three sons, Harlan John, Allen James, and Norman
Lee of Sioux Center, Iowa; two daughters, Rosella (Mrs. Harold Vander Weide) of Cedar
Rapids, Iowa, and Ruth Elaine of Sioux Center, Iowa; eight grandchildren; one brother Joe
Wolfswinkel of Rock Valley, Iowa, and three sisters, Jennie (Mrs. Ben Schoep) of Hull, Iowa;
Johanna (Mrs. Art Rozeboom) o ' Sioux Center, Iowa, and Dena (Mrs. Ray De Bey) of Hull,
Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Bernie.

Sioux Center News, April 16, 1970

Funeral services were held at the First Reformed Church here at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, April 15, for Mrs. Ralph R. Vande Berg, 52, life-long resident of the Sioux Center community, who died Sunday, April 12, at St. Luke's Hospital East in Sioux City after a lingering illness.

Services were conducted by the Rev. Jack Boerigter and burial was made in Sioux Center Community cemetery under the direction of the Cooperative Funeral Home.

Mrs. Vande Berg, nee Hattie Wolfswinkel, was born at Carmel September 3, 1917, and grew up in that area. She was married to Ralph R. Vande Berg at Carmel on July 6, 1939. The couple made their home on a farm near Sioux Center until retiring and moving into Sioux Center, April 3, 1970.

Survivors beside the widower include three sons, Harlan, John, Allen James and Norman Lee, all of Sioux Center, two daughters, Rosella (Mrs. Harold Vander Weide) of Cedar Rapids, and Ruth Elaine of Sioux Center; also eight grandchildren; a brother, Joe Wolfswinkel of Rock Valley, and three sisters, Jennie (Mrs. Ben Schoep) of Hull, Johanna (Mrs. Art Rozeboom) of Sioux Center and Dena (Mrs. Ray DeBey) of Hull.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Bernie.
