Wilmina Dorothy "Mina" Kleyne Fouts, 92, of Marshalltown, Iowa, died Friday, July 20, 2012, at the Iowa River Hospice House in Marshalltown. Funeral services for Mina will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, July 23, 2012, at the First Presbyterian Church in Marshalltown. Burial will follow funeral services. The Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Wilmina and her family.
Mina was born January 31, 1920, the daughter of Leonard and Jennie (Salie) Kleyne on the family farm in Sioux County, Iowa. She attended the Grant Township country school and graduated from Boyden High School in 1937. She went on to graduate from college in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. After college she worked at the Farmers Savings Bank in Boyden, Iowa, for years and also the Northwestern Bank in Orange City, Iowa. Mina met Earl Fouts through their mutual friends Hjalmar and Edna Mae Hellberg. Mina and Earl were married at the Elim Lutheran Church in Marshalltown, on December 17, 1966. They lived all of their married lives in Marshalltown.
Earl and Mina owned and operated Earl’s Keepsake Diamond Store. They were both very active in all of the local community events and were very avid Marshalltown Bobcat supporters. They were even named Mr. & Mrs. Bobcat. They both loved little children and were very active supporters of the First Presbyterian Church. Mina enjoyed cooking and entertaining family and friends at their home many, many times. Mina and Earl also shared a love of traveling and took many trips together. Mina was considered a very classy lady and would tell people not to judge the book by its cover. She will also be remembered for her favorite saying "if you’re not Dutch, you’re not much."
Mina is survived by her sister Betty Mouw, her two nephews: Dennis (Sandra) Mouw and Daryl (Linda) Mouw, her special friends Ross and Arlene Long, many great nieces and nephews, her sister-in-law Betty Fouts and many, many friends.
Mina was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Earl, two brothers-in-law, Maurice Mouw, Wayne Fouts, and her sister-in-law Winifred Frye.
