Noah M. Bakker
November 3, 2011 - August 3, 2012
Noah Bakker, age nine months, of Sioux Center, passed away on Friday, August 3, 2012, at the Sanford University of South Dakota Medical Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

There will be a memorial service on Tuesday, August 7, at 1:00pm, at the Redeemer United Reformed Church in Orange City. The Rev. Bradd Nymeyer will officiate. Interment will be prior to the service at the Sherman Township Cemetery near Maurice.
We were blessed with a very special gift from our Heavenly Father on November 3, 2011, in Sioux Falls. In His loving kindness, according to his perfect plan, Noah’s Father in heaven entrusted him to us, to serve, protect, and love. Created in the image of his Holy God, Noah was also divinely ordained to bear the marks of a sinful, fallen world in his little body.
Born with a severe genetic condition, which affected his ability to breathe, Noah underwent a tracheostomy on July 18, in the hopes that this medical intervention would greatly improve his quality of life and enable him to continue to serve his Creator. To the profound grief of his extended family, the work that Noah’s Father had prepared for him to accomplish on this side of glory was completed by this past Friday.
After numerous surgeries, Noah took his final breath, while he was cradled in the arms of his crying parents. What our God can accomplish in such a brief life is far beyond our understanding, yet Noah’s parents have been shown that every work of God (including those involving heartbreak) evidences His love and mercy. Our loving Shepherd, who has promised that he will never burden us beyond His sustaining grace, deserves our trust and obedience, and it is not too much for Him to ask us to teach this to our children.
What a blessing Noah has been, and will continue to be as we remember his brief life on this earth.
He was a baptized member of the Sioux Center United Reformed Church.
Survivors include his parents, Joseph Andrew and Marci Jene (Hoogland) Bakker, of Sioux Center; two sisters, Brianna and Jocelyn Bakker, both at home in Sioux Center; grandparents, Jerry and Marion Bakker, of Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada; and Marvin and Judy Hoogland, of Maurice; and great-grandparents, Johan and Johanna Bakker, of Thunder Bay; and Peter and Gwendolyn Hoogland, of Sioux Center.
He was preceded in death by great-grandparents, Jan and Nel Groenheide and Thomas and Corinne Kerkstra.
