Paul was born on October 24, 1945 to Leo and Margaret (Bigge) Ronspies in Parkston, SD. He attended Baird Country School near Armour, SD and Armour High School for two years until he chose to farm with his dad near Armour. Paul was confirmed by Father Wolfe at St. George’s Catholic Church in Armour. On November 23, 1968, Paul married Kay Mills at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Armour. The couple had two children, Troy and Tracy. Together, they farmed near Armour until 1981. In 1985 they moved to Dallas, SD where Paul was the manager of Colone Feed Service.
Trucking was his passion. Paul trucked for Nikodym Oil and Bob’s farm service. In November of 1996 they moved to Hawarden, IA where Paul trucked with Kaskie Bros. for the past 16 years. Paul was very meticulous about everything in life, especially his black vehicles. In his small amount of spare time, Paul enjoyed wood working. Paul was a great friend to many and always enjoyed throwing a good party with friends, family, food, and entertainment. No matter how busy he was, Paul always had time for family and friends.
Cancer may have taken his physical body, but it could not take his dignity, tenacity, and courage. Even when he was in the hospital, he never lost his wit and humor. Paul fought to the end. Paul’s family cannot express how proud they are of their husband and dad.
Paul is survived by his wife, Kay; children, Troy (Pam) of Hawarden, IA and Tracy (Shawn) Nesbo of Great Falls, MT; mother, Margaret of Armour, SD; siblings, Elaine (Dick) Hawley of Harrisburg, SD, Barb (Vic) Wieczorek of Mt.
