Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon, December 16, at 1:30 p.m., at the Vander Ploeg Funeral Home of Rock Valley and at 2:00 p.m., from the Methodist Church for Mrs. Gerrit Van Maanen, 49, who passed away Sunday afternoon, December 13, at the Sioux Center hospital where she had been ill for several years. Rev. Mervin Nelson officiated.

Mrs. Van Maanen (Henrietta Timmer) was born March 10, 1910, in Apeldoorn, The Netherlands and came to the United States with her parents, Mr. & Mrs. William Timmer at the age of two. She came to Rock Valley with the family in the spring of 1923 and grew up here. She married Gerrit Van Maanen, November 1, 1929, and the couple made their home in this community. Two sons, John & William, were born to them.

Besides her husband and two sons, she is survived by four grandchildren and four brothers, Bernard of Doon, Peter, George & Jacob all of Rock Valley.

Pall bearers were Owen Manning, John C. Dykstra, Paul Collenbaugh, G.G. Vermeer, Leo Grossenburg and Joe Oldenkamp.
