From the Sioux County Herald, June 26, 1901:
The little seven months old son of Mr. and Mrs. Gerrit Popma died at the home of his aunt, Mrs. T. Luymes, who has been taking care of him during his mother's illness, at 7 o'clock Saturday morning, of lung fever. The funeral was held from the Luymes home Sunday afternoon.

The obituary of his mother, Jennie (Nieuwendorp) Popma, who died two days later, appears in the same issue of the Herald.
