JAMES BARCLAY DIES AT AGE 57
Funeral Services Held Tuesday At Sioux City For Man Who Grew Up In Hawarden

James L. (Jim) Barclay, 57, of Sioux City, formerly of Hawarden, died Saturday in a hospital following a two-week illness. Mr. Barclay was a nephew of J. E. Gearhart of Hawarden.

Jim Barclay, a son of Mr. and Mrs. James Barclay, sr., grew up in Hawarden, graduating from the local high school. The family went to Selby, S.D., from here and 35 years ago he went to Sioux City.

When he went to Sioux City he was associated with an oil company for 17 years after which he became manager of the Interstate Oil company. In 1943 he became executive secretary of the Woodbury County Taxpayers conference. He also had served with the office of price administration as associate commodity ration specialist.

He was born December 7, 1891, at Emerson, Neb. He served in World War I and was a member of the Monahan post, American Legion. He was also a member of the Masonic order, Abu-Bekr shrine and Sioux City Consistotary [Consistory?] 5. He was a past president of the shrine foot patrol and a past exalted ruler of the Elks lodge.

Survivors are his wife; three sisters, Mrs. Art Norby and Mrs. Harvey Reyman of Fargo, N.D., and Mrs. Annis Sorenson of Portland, Ore., and five brothers, John of Shelby, Mont., Charles of Great Falls, Mont., Theo of Hettinger, N.D., David of Mobridge, S.D., and Clarence of Detroit, Mich.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at Perasso funeral home with burial in Graceland Park cemetery.
