DICK SCHAAP
Dick Schaap, 92, of Orange city, died Friday, August 22, at a Sioux Center hospital.
Services were at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the First Christian Reformed Church with the Rev. Thomas C. Vanden Heuvel officiating. Burial was in West ,Lawn Cemetery under the direction of the Van Etten-Oolman Funeral Home.
Mr. Schaap was born August 28, 1887, in New Holland, S.D. He moved to Sioux County. Iowa, in 1899. On Feb. 22, 1911, he married Bertha Van De Brake at Orange City. They farmed northwest of
Orange City until retiring to town in 1948.
In 1978 they became residents of the Pioneer Memorial Home in Orange City.
They moved to the nursing wing of the Sioux Center Community Hospital in Jan. 1980. He was a member of the First Christian Reformed CHurch.
Survivors include the widow; two sons, John of Hayward, Calif., and Ed of Orange City; one daughter, Mrs. Hubert (Bernice) Noteboom of Orange City; 12 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; and one great great granddaughter; one brother, Peter of Orange City; three sisters, Mrs. Johanna Vander Stoep of
Orange City, Mrs. John (Jennie) Te Velde of Grand Rapids, Mich., and Mrs. Maude Brink of Hayward, Calif.
