Joseph Hughy Jackson,71, Vermillion, died Sep 8, in a Sioux City hospital after a brief illness. The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Sept 12 at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Vermillion, with the Rev. Jerome Holtzman officiating. Burial will be in Grace Hill Cemetery in Hawarden, with the Wagner-Iverson Funeral Home of Vermillion in charge. A scripture service was held Sept. 11 at the funeral home.

Mr. Jackson was born March 3, 1902 at McClure, Ill. He married LaRena Crow Dec. 28, 1948, at Hawarden. He was plant superintendent of the Sioux Alfalfa plant of Vermillion until retiring last March. He was here for 24years and prior to that worked at the plant in Hawarden. He was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church, a grand knight of the Vermillion Knights of Columbus and a member of the Lions and Eagles club in Vermillion.

Survivors include the widow; a daughter. Mrs. Jesse Westergard of Stockton Calif., a stepdaughter, Miss Georgia Crow of Rapid City; a Stepson Dallas Crow of Hawarden; a brother, Herman of McClure; a sister Mrs. Helen Beasley of McClure; two half brothers, Herschel Jackson of Athol, Mass., and Homer of Phoenix, Ariz; two half-sister’s, Mrs. Hester Gray of Cape Giradeau, Mo., and Mrs. Mary Nelson of St. Louis, Mo.; a step-mother, Mrs. Dovie Jackson of Cape Giradeau; a grandchild; six step grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
