Evan Henry Van Putten was born on May 10, 1953, his parents were Ed and Priscilla(Vande Brake) Van Putten of Sioux Center. Evan was raised on a farm west of Sioux Center and received his education at Sioux Center Community School.
Evan married his long time friend and classmate Linda(Lynn) Burgers on July 27, 1973 in the Bethel Christian Reformed Church of Sioux Center. A little known fact is that he had also married Lynn once before in the little chapel north of Sioux Center when he was in high school in a fantasy ceremony officiated by a friend.
At the time of his death Evan was a member of the Central Reformed Church of Sioux Center.
Evan was employed by Sioux County since 1975 and also set up and ran the golf leagues at the Sandy Hollow Golf course for many years.
Family was always number one in Evans life. In addition to his wife, Evans children, Shannon and Joshua, and his grandchildren were his greatest blessing. He loved spending time with them boating, tubing, and fishing. As a young family, they enjoyed many special camping adventures together. Evan and Josh spent many years hunting, fishing, and ice fishing and have many wonderful stories to etell. Evan loved golfing with Lynn and Josh whenever he could. He also loved spending time with Shannon, helping her with her 4-H calves at the fair. As a family, many hours were spent at slow pitch ballgames as Evan played for many years.
His pride and joy was his grandchildren. He couldnt get enough of Parker and Logan once they were born. They had a special relationship with their Papa and spent many weekends with him in Sioux Center. He was loved so much and will be carried in our hearts forever until we see him again.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 34 years Linda (Lynn) Van Putten, daughter and son-in-law, Shannon and Keith Ekeren, and their children Parker and Logan of Sioux Falls; son, Joshua Van Putten and his special friend Heather Roetman and children Skylar, Brendan, and Kira of Sioux Center; sister, Rachel Chandler of Sioux Center; brothers-in-law, Ken Van Voorst and his wife Sandy of Sioux Center, Larry and Sharyl Burgers of Branson, MO, Doug and Alicia Burgers of Longville, MN and a very much loved father-in-law, Hans Burgers of Sioux Center as well as his nieces and nephews.
