Obituary: Rock Valley, IA: Ray Reinke, 85, of Rock Valley, died Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at his home of a long illness. Funeral Service will be 1:30 pm Friday at First Reformed Church, Rock Valley. Burial at Valley View Cemetery. Rev. Garry Nyenhuis officiating. Visitation with the family present will be 6:30-8 pm Thursday at Porter Funeral Home.

Raymond Harlow Reinke was born January 2, 1927 at Cosmos, Minnesota, son of Walter and Alma (Kaddatz) Reinke. He was confirmed at the Peace Lutheran Church at Cosmos and graduated from the Litchfield High School. Ray served in the U.S. Army during WW II (June 21, 1945-Nov. 7, 1946). After the war, Ray worked as a lineman for IPS (now called MidAmerican Energy). Ray was an active member of Rock Valley’s VFW and American Legion Club; a great fisherman and gardener and generously shared his catch and vegetables with friends and family. On October 2, 1982 he married Gerri Van Olst and spent 29 happy years together.

Ray was survived by his wife, Gerri; children, Douglas (Helen) Reinke of Sioux City, IA, David (Deb) Reinke of Rock Valley, Tim (Kendra) Reinke of Sioux City, Pam Reinke of Omaha, NE; daughter-in-law, Deb Reinke of Virginia; step-son, John (Cindy) Loveless of Henderson, NV; 20 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; brother, Bill (Joyce) Reinke of Bells, TN; sister, Renie Nelson of Farmville, VA. Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Alma; son, Tom Reinke; 2 sisters, Doris Reinke, and Esther Benson
