Mrs. Marie Vander Maten, age 80 of Orange City, passed away Monday, November 23, 1998 at the Long Term Care Facility of the Orange City Municipal Hospital. The funeral services were held on Wed November 25, 1998 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Reformed Church in Orange City. The Rev. Steven Vander Molen officiated. Interment followed at West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City. The Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City was in charge of Arrangements

Marie was born on April 5, 1908. At Orange City, the daughter of John and Gertrude (Reekers) Ter Horst. She was raised at Orange City. On January 8, 1930, she married William Vander Maten at Orange City. They farmed near Boyden. Mr. Vander Maten passed away March 16, 1930 at Boyden

Marie then returned to the Ter Horst family farm south of Orange City, where she helped care for her parents and brothers and sisters. In 1944 they moved into Orange City. After her parent’s death, she continued to make her home with her sister. In 1991, she became a resident of the Long Term Care Facility.

Survivors include two nephews and three nieces. In addition to her husband and parents, she was precede by her sister, Willmina Ter Horst; three brothers, William, John and Gerrit Ter houst; and a nephew, Daryl Ter Horst.
