Fred J. Lantz, 85 of Hawarden, Iowa died Sunday, September 28, 2003 at the Hawarden Community Hospital. Memorial Service will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Porter Funeral Home in Hawarden with Pastor Nathan de Vries officiating. Burial of the cremated remains will be in the Grace Hill Cemetery at Hawarden with Military Honors by the Hawarden American Legion and VFW. Porter Funeral Home of Hawarden is in charge of the arrangements.

Fred J. Lantz was born June 7,1918 at Morganville, Kansas. He served with the US Army stationed at AAF Base Victorville, California. He served from April 1942 to. December of 1945. Fred married Carol McMillan June 28,1978 at the Methodist Church in Hawarden.

They made their home in Hawarden where he was a housepainter for over 50 years. He enjoyed flowers, camping, fishing and his dog, Peanut. Survivors include his wife Carol; brother, Bill Lantz and wife Sondra of Salina, Kansas; and numerous nephews and nieces. Fred was preceded in death by his parents; two brother, Johnny and Edward; and two sisters, Beatrice and Nadine.
