Mrs. Gertrude( nee Whalen ) Elliott ,70, of Los Angeles Calif., a former resident of Beresford and well known in Hawarden, died last Friday in a Sioux City hospital following a brief illness. Her remains were taken to Beresford and a graveside ceremony was held there at 2 o’clock Tuesday afternoon in the Beresford cemetery.

Mrs. Elliott was the widow of Dr. Arastus V. Elliott who practiced medicine at Beresford many years. After his death, she made her home in California. She is survived by three children, Mrs. J. Watt Woolridge of Sioux City and Mrs. Herman Utech, Mrs. Jesse Whalen, Walter Scott, Robert Scott and Mrs. Conrad Falde and son Roger of Hawarden attended the funeral
