Clarence Beckmann, 78, of Granville, died on Monday, August 15, at the Orange City Hospital after a brief illness. Beckmann was born Feb. 17,1916, in rural Granville. His parents were John and Catherine (Rolling) Beckmann. He was raised and educated in the Granville area.

Beckmann engaged in farming near Granville with his parents and his sister, Henrietta. After the death of his parents, He and his sister retired and moved into Granville in 1972. Beckmann has been a resident of the Happy Siesta Retirement Home in Remsen since Feb. 15, 1994. The service time will be at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 18 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Granville, where Beckmann was a member. The Rev. Clem Currans will be officiating. The burial will be in the parish cemetery. The Fisch Funeral Home in Remsen will be in charge. The parish rosary and vigil prayer service was Wednesday, Aug. 17, also at St. Joseph's.

Survivors include one sister, Mrs. William (Marina) Ecker of Granville; three sister-in-laws, Mrs. Frank (Nina) Beckmann of Primghar; Mrs. Elmer (Mercedes) Beckmann of Gran ville; and Mrs. Ray (Veronica) Beckmann of Wilmont, Minn. There are also numerous surviving nieces and nephews. Beckmann was proceeded in death by his parents; four brothers Lawrence, Raymond, Frank and Elmer; and three sisters Frances (when a child), Mrs. Louis (Petronella) Stoll, and Miss Henrietta Beckmann. The casket bearers include Harold, Joseph and Norman Beckmann, and Leo, Peter and Vincent Stoll.
