Dr. J. Larry Elliott 83, of Le Mars passed away on Thursday, Feb 21, at Floyd Valley Hospital in Le Mars. Services were held on Monday morning, Feb 25, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Le Mars, with the Rev. Kevin Richter officiating. Burial will be at a later date in St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery in Sheldon.

Joseph Larry Elliott was born on Feb. 24, 1924, in Pendleton, Ind. To Burton and Katherine (Holiday) Elliott. After the death of his mother, his father married Grace Alley. Larry enlisted and proudly served with the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. He earned his honorable discharge on Jan. 19, 1946. Larry and Ruth Murphy were united in marriage on Aug. 12, 1946, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Sheldon. The couple resided in Indiana, where Larry attended Butler University and earned his degree in pharmacology. They later returned to the area and purchased the Rexall Drug Store in Alton in 1959. In 1976, Larry returned to college at Palme Chiropractic College, when he earned his doctorate. Later, Larry and Ruth would establish Alton Chiropractic Clinic in Alton.

Larry was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Le Mars and sang with the choir. His interest include bowling and golfing with his wife, spending time with his family, painting and working with stained glass. He was member of Floyd American Legion Post 200 in Alton.

Left to cherish his memory are Ruth of Le Mars, his wife of 61 years, son L. Doyte and Susan Elliott of Greeley, Colo. and Paul and Ginny Elliott of Roscoe, ILL; daughter Ellen and Jake Klein of Alton and Teresa and Duane Penning of Grandville; Grandchildren Amy and Ben Edge and Christ Elliott of Greeley, Brian and Rachel Klein of Sheldon, Brenda and Darrin Recke and Doug and Krista Klein of Granville and Pete Feller of Remsen, Heide and Nic Kramer of Hospers, Katie and Josh Aberson of Oklahoma City, Okla , Ashely and Mark Van Voorst of Sioux center, Eric and Nikki Elloitt of Pecatonica, ILL ., and Crystal Elliott of Chicago, Ill; 20 great grandchildren; sister Saralee Bennett of Anderson, Ind. Sisters and brother-in-laws Maxine Gintert of Le Mars, Roy and Loretta Murphy of Sheldon , Dorothy Wright of Iowa Falls and Genevie Murphy of Le Mars; and several nieces and nephews. He was precede in death by his parents and two sisters
