Deloris Catherine McClennan, 71, of Hawarden, died Thursday, July 28, 2005 after a short illness at her home. The Funeral Mass was Aug. 1 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Hawarden with the Rev. LeRoy Seuntjens officiating. Burial followed in the Grace Hill Cemetery at Hawarden. Porter Funeral Home in Hawarden is handling the arrangements.

Deloris C. McClennan was born May 18, 1934 in Sioux City, the daughter of John & Catherine (Schumacher) Rembe. She graduated from Leeds High School and went to work as a secretary for the Engineering Department of Iowa Public Services in Sioux City.

She was married on Aug. 17, 1957 to Ronald R. McClennan of Boston, Mass, who was stationed with the 14th Fighter Interceptor Squadron at Sioux City Airbase, where they had met at an USO Dance. The next twenty-five years brought assignments to many military stations throughout the 50 United States. Deloris became a Military Personnel Technician for the Department of the Air Force and retired from Civil Service in June 1998.

She had traced her ancestry back to William Brewster, The Elder of the Plimouth Plantation and to King John of England, brother of Richard the Lionhearted. She was a member of the Magna Charta Dames, the Mayflower Society and the Daughters of the American.

Survivors include her husband, Ronald R. McClennan; three daughters, Catherine Thrasher of Prince Frederick, MD; Lorraine Vargo of Hawarden, and Theresa Sabin of Hawarden; 11 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Richard and another brothers, Gregory and his wife Joy; a sister, Carmelita and her husband Joseph Walsh and another sister, Lorraine and her husband Joseph Harrington.
