Sioux Center - Nettie Brower, 92, Sioux Center, died Monday, July 22, at Sioux Center Community Hospital.

Funeral services were Wednesday, July 24, at Covenant Christian Reformed Church in Sioux Center, with the Rev. Herm Van Niejenhuis officiating. Burial was at Grand Center Township Cemetery of Rural Hampton.

Nettie Brower, daughter of Peter & Grace Ruter, was born Dec. 1, 1910 in Grundy County. She attended Pine Creek Elementary School and graduated from Wellsburg Public High School in 1928. She married Henry F. Brower on Nov. 30, 1938, at First Christian Reformed Church in Wellsburg, and they began farming shortly there after near Hampton. They later moved to Wellsburg, where they lived for nine year. In 1957 they moved to their farm south of Hampton. They lived there until 1992 when they retired in Sioux Center. For more than 20 years they spent their winters in Mission, TX.

Nettie enjoyed a variety of church activities, serving as a Sunday school teacher for many years and actively participating in ladies aid organizations. She also enjoyed playing all sorts of games, delighted in birds and flowers, those most colorful gifts of God's creation, and most of all loved and cared for people. She was a sparkling, joyful person who made friends easily and enjoyed people immensely.

Survivors include her husband, Henry Brower; her children, Joel & Jean Brower of Sioux Center and Jerelyn & Dave Schelhaas of Sioux Center; five grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Jessie Ruter, and brothers, Herman and James Ruter.
