Sioux Center News, December 12, 1963

Funeral services were held Wednesday, December 11 at 2 P.M., at the Billy Sunday Tabernacle in Sioux City for Mrs. A. G. McGilvra, 87, of Sioux City, who died early Monday at the Sioux Center hospital where she had been a patient since November 14.

Rev. Martin Hoekman, pastor of the First Reformed Church of Maurice, officiated, assisted by Edmund Bauer, principal of Morningside Christian School of Sioux City.

Mrs. McGilvra, the former Hattie Hulsebos, was born November 7, 1876, near Grand Haven, Mich., and lived in Plankinton and Harrison, SD, before her marriage to Arthur G. McGilvra at Harrison on June 2, 1904. The couple lived in Harrison and Mitchell, SD before moving to Sioux City in 1911. Mr. McGilvra a railway postal clerk, died in 1948.

Mrs. McGilvra was a member of Billy Sunday memorial tabernacle.

Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. K. C. Ainslje of Sioux City, and Mrs. Norman VanderHart of Ithaca, Mich; four sons, Dr. Raymond (Bob) McGilvra of Phoenix, AZ, Harold McGilvra of Maurice, Dr. Arthur L. McGilvra of Sioux Center, and Rev. Ralph McGilvra of Greenville, SD; 14 grandchildren and five great grandchildren and one brother, Bert Hulsebos of Holland, Mich.
