No paper name, possibly Hawarden Independent, home of her daughter. July 30, 1932

Mrs. Mary Brooks, who made her home here much of the time the past six years with her daughter, Mrs. Harry Peters, passed away at Orange City on Tuesday of last week. Her remains were taken to Heron Lake, Minn. her former home, and funeral services were held there last Friday. Interment was made at Heron Lake.

Mary Rotach was born in Switzerland, Dec. 6, 1852, and passed away July 21, 1936, having attained the advanced age of 82 years, 7 months and 18 days. She grew to young womanhood in her native land and when she was 20 years of age she came to America, locating at Lyons, N.Y., where she was married to Charles Brooks. To this union were born eight children, one of whom, and her husband preceded her in death. In 1888 they came to Iowa, settling in Fayette County and about 30 years ago they moved to Heron Lake, Minn., which place she called her home continuously since that time. Since the death of her husband she made her home with her children a great deal of the time. She is survived by seven children, Mrs. Harry Peters, Hawarden; Mrs. Caroline Perry, George, Iowa; Mrs. Ed Mylan, Buffalo Center, Iowa; Carl Brooks, Minneapolis; Henry and Louis Brooks, Nortonville, N.D., and Fred Brooks, Rock Rapids, IA.
