Last Saturday morning at :3 o'clock the soul of Mrs. Joseph Hoefler, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Goergen of this place, departed for her eternal home; she was 28 years of age. For seven weeks she had been confined to her bed and during that time suffered terribly; at the time of her death she was in St. Joseph's hospital at Sioux City, where she had an operation performed. She leaves to mourn her loss a husband and five children.

They were married 1892 at Granville IA. They had the following children – Clara 1893-1981, Paul 1894, Mary 1896-1966, Elizabeth 1898 and Michael 1899-1950. Jospeh was later noted as living in Coffey county, Kansas)
